My Review: This was my favorite book of the year so far. I loved it. I loved it right from the beginning and I flew through it. Zahru is a fantastic character with just the right balance snark and wit. She knows she makes some stupid choices but her reasoning was always believable. I also loved all three of the heirs. They were each very different and well done. I also thought the magic system was well done and I loved the tension of those with magic and those without. I also loved the variety of gifts, which reminded me a bit of The Graceling (another favorite of mine). The ending was intense and a cliff hanger which left me desperately wanting book 2!! If you are a ya fantasy reader then I can't recommend this one enough!
