My Review: The Guineveres follows the lives of four teenage girls, brought together by a shared name as they grow up in a convent and lean on each other for support. The basis of the story is that the girls want a way out, an escape for the dreary lives they have been exiled to for various reasons.

There were a few things that I really enjoyed about the book. The characters were well developed and unique. Each girl brought a different aspect of being a teenage girl to the mix of the book, from being obsessed with looks and sex, to trying to figure out sexuality and to just not quite fitting in. I also felt that the writing was well done and the plot had interesting points.

What I didn’t like though was the choppy feel to the novel. Although there is only one main narrator for much of the story there are parts where it jumps into the other girls backstories and also side stories about the different saints. These parts were still well done but they threw me out of the story a bit and I often found myself stopping at these points.

All in all I give the book 3 stars. I would certainly give another Sarah Domet book a try in the future.
